I added an aftermarket intake (cheap&#33<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> to my '89 240 and sometime after I added the exhaust system. I noticed it was running really rich, leaving black soot all over the back of the car (diesle style). This intake didn't have a place for the sensor to mount so I just squeezed it between the rubber hose between the filter and the pipe. Anyways, if the wire it pinched or the sensor is getting too much air (or not enough air), would it tell or cause the ECU to deliver too much fuel?
It can't be normal to run this rich, yet people keep telling me it's normal with aftermarket exhaust. It's getting embarassing.

Yes if the intake sensor is somehow thinking the air is colder than it should be it will cause the car to run a little rich. I'm thinking it's not getting the proper amount of airflow. best bet is to drill a hole the size of the sensor and either tape it or find a way to mount it. I forget whether the temp sensor is mounted in front or behind the mafs. If it's in front and you put it behind than that can lead to your problem also.

G'luck
