has fuel has spark turns over but does not start. wtf?

Okay if anyone has any bright ideas I would like to hear them.
(and getting an sr is not one of them)
I removed a perfectly fine ka24de and replace all the gaskets and the oilpump and all filters and hoses. clean it all up like new put it in and now the car just cranks but does not fire up.
I have put the engine and the ditributer at tdc and have added octane booster and new gas( my car sat for a year ad a half)
I think that maybe it is just a timing issue and I have to just keep trying it, while trying not to loose my sanity. But I just want to see if anyone else has had the same problem and maybe it is something else.
just looking for ideas, thanks alot.

and i checked all my fuses all of them were good except the 12v under the driverside kick panel.
fuel pump is a walboro kicks on, the car has fuel , and spark but still wont spark, i tried today but started to flood the motor soo i had to let it sit. ill work on it more tomorrow but any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks. I really need to get this girl runnin so i can move back down to socal. thanks.

Timing for sure, every KA ive done will do this if its not close enough.
Did you line up all the tabs when you rebuilt it? Did the line up the tab on the dist? Mine fired up on the first crank when i lined them all up perfectly. Did you pre lube the engine before cranking?

Is the distributor 180* off? I've seen that happen.

yes I am pretty sure that is it, the distributer is lined up with the notches, I lined everything up perfectly on the motor upon assembly.
i did prelube the motor with the lucas moving parts lube.
so I am thinking I am gogin to have to just mess with it and keep trying. the only bitch is that if i keep doing it too long the engine gets flooded.
so i have to wait.

so take off the valve cover to see wtf is going on, and what do i find???? that the exhaust gaskets first lob is not facing where it should?!?!
so now i have to take off the cam and readjust the timing chain or the sprocket chain, and than close the bitch up.
and start her up.
i just dont know what could have caused this seeing as how i swear i put it on right.
