if you can find someone to swap the engine, then an SR20DET may be a better choice, especially if you happen to have an automatic. you can build up your original engine with internals and a turbo or have a stock SR for roughly the same price i'd think. thanks for the compliment on the website.

One of they guys at HMP motorsports (Matt I believe) runs a bolt on kit with a custom manifold that HMP offers, and put I believe 190hp down on a dyno. The SOHC does have potential, but it requires you roll up your sleeves to extract the power. It can also be fairly cheap to get the power out of as well. A Z18ET manny bolts on the SOHC head with port matching, and the flange fits a T3, which wouldn’t be hard to find in a salvage yard. You could do a low boost system with out the I/C and see about 200 or so at the wheels, which as about all the bottom end can handle. Get an FMU so you won't go lean, and the only other thing you would need is a BOV. Even with all of the "oh S@^#"s I doubt it would run you more than $2000 do have ~200hp. |

Remeber anything is possible. All it takes is time and work to get it done. Proper research and planning could yeild quite a machine with the KA24E

unstable hybrids did to a supercharger install. in my opinion i mean, if you did the install yourself, you could do it considerably less than the price of a turbo kit, or even get a professional with FMIC for less than what it'd cost you to get a kit and properly build the engine for turbo, which would still yield less potential than the SR.
personally i'd say if you couldnt afford it, swap in a KA24DE, or get a DE head (im pretty sure you can put a DE head onto an E block). you can serously find whole engines with tranny for under $500 if you really shop around (thepartstrader.com usually has a decent supply up), im sure a head and tranny would be cheaper. this'll yield 20hp and a little torque, thats more gains than you could possibly get out of any other mod in this price range, and better yet, will let you use the entire range of 91-98 bolton and internal parts. if you're wanting NA power, and you do get a head, thats a chance to go ahead and get it ported/polished and a minor buildup (cams, valve springs, retainers, etc. etc.). you could probably pick up some nice high comp pistons and rods reasonably cheap, as well. if you're going to build a KA, SOHC is a very bad place to start, compared to DOHC. |

I am considering the build up of the SOHC because well I already have it in there. and second is it will be different. the fact is I sometimes like to be the stand out and not follow the croud. I also look at the fact I have seen some crazy 240Z's around 400+ when turboed so why not...
