for the s14 owners with s13 sr's....

i just have a question about your tach... since you cant swap a s13 tach into your s14 240.... did you get a different one from a silvia or 200sx? or did you go aftermarket? i just wanna see how you guys are doing it... im about to put a s13 sr in... and i just wanna see what you guys are doing with yours... im doing the swap my self... when i say my self.... i mean 3 others also.. haha..

thanks for any replys...... if this topics been covered.. just tell me.. ill try to search harder... i did a search and came up with nothing....

also, if you have any advice for somebody doing a s13 sr swap into a s14 that would be great help.... the wiring seems to be the hardest part mentally.... im using sr20.hybrids.jp as a guide... (is this a good source for the wiring?)other than that.. seems pretty straight foward... but if you have any advice... that would be greatly appreciated.. thanks.....

i dont want anybody flamming me... so.. if any of this has been covered.. i guess ill try to search harder....

yup stock s14 se tach works fine. it was only the 89-90 tachs that needed changing.

1. Yes from what I understand. if your really worried about doing the wiring yourself you can also send projectsilvia or heavy throttle your sr harness and ka harness and they will do it for you. but I have heard the wiring instructions on sr hybrids is spot on

2. pretty much all of it. you have to remove the iiac off the downpipe to clear your steering rack.

3. ummm whichever you feel like going after.. I didnt replace any of mine and have had no problems. get them from phase2 (see the blinking adds up top )

4. yeah millions of muscle cars cant be wrong

5. no its not but you dont have to change anything but your brain. the redlines a function of your ecu not your tach. just cuz your tach shows redline doesnt mean your there. you can do what I did and take some paint and paint over the red part so you know longer see it if it makes you feel better. rev limiters at 7500 or something like that... I cant remember exactly right now. too late need sleep.

I don't your S14 tach will work with no problem if you get the wiring done right.

Ones that I would replace w/ the engine out would be:

1. The base gasket that goes inbetween the exhaust mani and the turbo. I have gone through 2 so far (It comes off a z32 TT any year)

2. Exhaust manifold gasket (off a '93 SE-R Sentra or any that have SR20DE)

3. Turbo elbow to downpipe. Replace this w/ a metal gasket stay away from the paper if you run boost you will burn them out consistantly

These all can be purchased from Courtesey Nissan online. They are the cheapest or go to your local Nissan dealer and pay more.

Yes! Good point! Such a good point that I'm gonna order some gaskets today! (been slackin).

No 3. Turbo elbow to downpipe what the part number for it?

Also what about the turbo exhaust side to o2 housing. What the part number for that?

Thanks
Jed

I will have to get that off my invoice but if you call Courtesey they will hunt it down in their computers and if you aren't sure that it is correct they will email you the picture and you can verify. Or go to the local Nissan dealer get the part number then go to Courtesey and order it.

BTW- I think we should get a thread where the common parts that need to be replaced on SRs and the equivilant on different Nissans. That would be really helpful

half a week after I say Ididnt replace ANY of the gaskets on mine I have a leak coming from one. doh! guess I jinxed myself there. so Im off to buy new gaskets and replace then crappy man. oh well on the bright side I did pick up an HKS actuator so I could pick up a few more PSI so tonight I will hopefully be rolling with a good solid 12-14psi
