Who makes the best struts for the 240.. Barring price..

Penske, Bilstein, Ohlin, GAB... I'm looking for opinions on what makes a good shock. I'll probably be running Ground Controls with whatever I end up buying. This is gonna be a ways off.. and on a little different car.

Most club racers I see are running koni's with GC's...from crx's to s14's, just an observation tho, not saying its the best.

GC makes their own dampers now. i'm guessing since they will custom wind springs to whatever specs you want, they'll probably valve dampers to whatever you want as well. GC would be the place to start, if they can't make you want you want, i'm willing to bet they will know who will, as GC has been doing this for quite some time.

I didn't realize they were making thier own dampers.. thats very interesting. I will definately look into that, as that would be very cost effective I would bet.

Dave- My roommate is going to be running Koni's and GC's in the near future. That'll give me a good chance to try them out, and see how I like them. I think most guys go with them, b/c you can get them rebuilt, and revalved however you want, and they are cheap, and adjustable..

sounds like a winner to me.

But if it came to it, and I wanted to really get competitive in a few years, would there be a few tenths to be found in a set of Penske's? I would assume yes, but that's an assumtion..

i don't know if penske's are remote resevoir or not, but i don't think that RR's are legal in IT classes for purposes of keeping it cheap to participate.

Here's a quick thing at H-T about the "advanced design" (ground control) shocks.

Based only on that topic, they appear to have the bound and rebound adjustability sepearate...something I imagine woud be very useful for someone on the IT level.

hi guys!

I have always been a Koni user. Remotes WILL be illegal in IT next year I believe, Also, they can only have 2 adjustments.

The ground Control units look to be pretty nice. Koni, Bilstein and GC can all be revalved to match your spring rates.

yes, but they can still be revalved. Not a bad way to go since alot of people have no idea how to adjust single, let alone double adjustables.

i've always heard great things about Tokico HTS w/ GC's...is that legal?

One of my friends has been using the Advanced Design struts and shocks on his 96 mustang cobra in autocross. They have worked great once he got them to size them right. It took GC four times to size the front struts right for his car. they were always too short. The AD's are around $400 a corner if i remember correctly.

Penskes can be had without a remote reservoir. these shocks are very impressive, and expensive.

IMO, it's hard to go wrong with koni
