Are Powerstop Brakes good?

I was thinking about getting Powerstop Drilled brake rotors for the front of my car, and some Brembo OE Rotors for the rear and letting a guy I know slot them for me.

Are the Powerstop Brakes good, I tired a search but couldn't find anything. I heard they were good but I just wanted to from anyone that has experience with them.

Also do you think it would be alright to go with the setup as I stated above, Powerstop drilled up front and Brembo OE rotors in the rear that will be custom slotted?

Which Brake pads would be the best, I know that AXIS are the best but should I get the semi-metalic or the deluxe kind or whatever it is?

I think I've heard of powerstop once or twice, but don't know anything about them. Forget wasting your money on slotting or drilling (or already-slotted/drilled) rotors, just buy some brembo blanks and be done with it. There has been much controversy over benefits (other than bling bling look, if any-) versus the risk you take (structural integrity of rotor, and its increased propensity to crack), and I happen to reside in the camp who believe that OE spec rotors will do better for your braking system than slotted/drilled ones.

unless you need the look, the slotted/cross drilled rotors are unnecesary.

just get some regular Brembo blanks, and some good pads..

what kind of driving are you going to be doing?

Mostly regualr street driving, but I need the good brakes for the auto-xing I do. MY brakes right now get to hot and suck. I am afraid that blanks will also get to hot so I wanted drilled brakes atleast in the front.

So opinons please, do you think blanks will still be alright for hard auto-xing?

OH yea BLING BLING

No I don't really want Z brakes because I don't want to spend all that money getting new lines and calipers and what not. I jsut want a nice replacement.

believe it or not simply upgrading the brake pads does alot more then you would think.

yea I'm deffinatly getting new pads(Axxis Metal Master) but my rotors are bad, so i need new brakes anyway. So I was going to get some powerstop drilled brakes up front and some blank Brembo in the rear. I was asking if Powerstop is a good company and if this would be a good setup???

I have the ones from Stillen (which I believe are powerstops except renamed Stillen). I'm unsure if the Power stops are nickel plated though. Except mine are the 300ZX ones. I have yet to put the brake upgrade on my car yet though. My Calipers ended up being NA Z's so I need to find some TT ones.

powerstop is a pretty decent rotor from what I hear.

I use brembo blanks with porterfield r4s pads on my car at the track. I hear the Axxis Ultimates are better for auto-x though because they have better cold bite. I have no idea how your heating up brakes enough to cause fade at an auto-x


Since your obviously worried about cost.. (totaly understandable)
Buy -
1 qt Ford Heavy Duty brake fluid - ~$6
2 Front Brembo blanks - $60
1 set of front Axxis Ultimate brake pads - $70

total ~$140 that will seriously improve your brakes.

If your think your rotors are getting hot at an auto-x, what your probably experiencing is fade from crappy OEM pads that have glazed.

If your lucky you can find a whole Z brake upgrade for 200 bucks. (my friend found it at a local shop.) But that is of course if you go w/ stock lines, the pads it came with, rotor etc.

But then again expect to find it more in the 300 range. If you couldn't tell I'm trying to push you toward spending more and get a better set up. You won't regret it in the end. Do it once and do it right. Wait a little bit longer and save up. But it's your car and your money. Good luck with whatever you end up doing.

Well my brakes get hot and they are warped so they hardly stop my car under hard braking. So I think I am going with Drilled & Chamfered Vented Rotor from Powerstop in the front and regular Brembo Vented blanks in the back, with Axxis Ultimate brake pads all the way around.

Does this sound like a good setup to yall?

brake rotors don't "warp"... another long standing myth.

the "warp" you feel is pad material burned onto the rotor from crappy pads.

Substitute blank rotors for the front and you'll be golden. BTW 240SX rear rotors are non-vented, and too thin to fit vents into them.
