Precautions about buying a used LSD?

I am going to be looking at a used Tomei 2way lsd with 300mi driven and broken in already. I wanted to know if there are some things that I can be looking out for? I am assuming probably not much because the lsd already in the pumpkin and taken off the car (cant drive it). Anyways just curious. Any opinions/advice.

best bet

you can do a few things
if you are buying it from the original owner, talk with him/her about its use (daily driving/drifting/road race/autox etc) and how often the fluid was changed
who did the install?
was it purchased new?
etc

when you get it, drain it. look for metal in the oil
open the cover and visually inspect it. turn it and see how it moves
after that cover it back (make sure you buy a new gasket for replacement after you open it)
and install, refill with oil
then drive it and see how it goes
you can always re-break it in as well
you can get the process off

www.kaazusa.com
under the FAQ section i believe. (questions and answers part iirc)

good luck! ENJOY IT! LSD is the best thing you can do to your car EVER

Ok sounds like good stuff. Yeah I have studied the kaaz faq page for a long time already. Where can I get a new gasket anyway? What gasket are we talking about? heh.

you can get the gasket from PEp Boys/kragen. but i always say go OEM on that stuff
it is the diff cover gasket. when you take off teh back cover, there is a gasket squished in there. costs like 20 bucks from the dealer iirc.
just scrape off the old and put on the new. and blammo. bolt the cover back on.
