overheated...
Ok i have a stock 1993 240sx hatch and it suddenly overheated and i think it blew the head gasket and more becuase it wont start back up and only has about 65 lbs of compression. i checked everything else, ignition, fuel, timing, everything else works fine but im wondring if 65lbs of compression sounds like piston rings too? Please HELP!

Blown headgasket.
Warped head; might also be cracked. Low compression has to do with the motor not sealing. So compression isn't escaping between the piston rings, it's escaping from the head.

I am in the same boat as you exept I have a modified sr20 pushin 350. I think what happen is the motor leaned out from a tune I got. What is interesting is I didnt get a overheat at all but it did all of a sudden die. It must have been the heat produced in both our motors that made compression drop so bad.
One thing someone told me was it would be hard for all of a sudden all piston rings to go bad at once so it is most likely the head gasket or head. Can you let me know what it was when you take it apart?

The oil is little milky with the water, and i can see some condensation in the valve cover. Is it worth it to try and put a new head gasket in andsee if that works or does the motor sound fried? Also if it is the head, will a sr20de(not det) head fit on a ka24de? if it does i know it will give alot more compression... |

The water is getting in your oil due to your headgasket not sealing properly. Like the others said you can replace the head gasket but make sure the block or the head is not warped, or else you are still going to have issues with the head gasket sealing properly

before you jsut go and rip it apart, why dont you do a leak down test. dont automatically take it to the machine shop to get it milled, get a straight edge and check for clearence. i believe its .001 which is safe if using a stock headgasket

yeah that's a problem is I don't have money for a new one, unless some one know of or has one cheap? And no I wasn't holding the throttle open when I did the compression test, that would give a more unacurate reading right?

I'm in the same boat as you, my head gasket blew on me. I'm getting the engine rebuilt right now though. But yeah, chocolate milky oil = blow headgasket. If I were you and I had the money, I would just get a new motor. Maybe a SR20DET?

Why the fuck are you idiots suggesting he gets another fucking engine? Its a blown headgasket, not a fucking rod thru the block. Take the head off and get the head checked and cleaned. Get some aftermarket HG and call it a day....

![]() ok here's the deal i was driving my car around last week,it was running perfect than all the sudden i pull in the driveway and it start's running like s***!!! I'm not sure why, i popped the hood and the motor was pretty hot,not sure how hot cuz my temp gauge is broken,im just tryin to see what's up with it,did a compression check and only one piston had a normal reading, oil looks good ,and i didn't see no blue smoke indicating that the oil rings are bad,i took the head gasket off and it doesn't look bad, shoot me ur opinion or just pm me thanks
