car grinds when cranking. HELP!!!!
had my sr swap done for about 2 weeks now, finally finished all the troubleshooting and mishaps (no fuel,no spark, ect....). took it out for a test drive. car started to grind. sounded like i was over cranking the car when it was already on, or sounded like when you put your car in 1st gear when the car is moving without stepping on the clutch. then the car died and from then on everytime i tried to crank it the grinding comes back on. but only comes on when it started to turn over. so yea i honestly dont know what happen? starter went out? spun a bearing in my transmission? any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

None of the above tells us much about your problem, if anything at all.
Does the car go into gear or not, with difficulty or not, does the trans engage and disengage, smoothly or not? When exactly does the noise occur, and be more specific. 1st things first.. Have someone pump the clutch pedal while you watch for movement from the slave cylinder. -Bart |

/\/\ wtf are you talking about? please explain to me how too much oil would cause your starter to grind on the flywheel.
op, it sounds like you have worn teeth on your flywheel. you can check this by removing your starter and visually inspecting the teeth. k? |

If you put the trans in neutral and it grinds when you try to start it, then you either have a chewed-up tooth or two on the flywheel or your starter-solinoid is not ingaging the flywheel all the way in which case you'll end up with chewed-up/missing teeth on the flywheel anyway...just my two cents!.

Gotta be the teeth of the starter. I had the same problem with mine. Took the starter out and got it rebuild. Just make sure when you put it back its nice and snuggled in there.

turns out my starter is perfectly fine. got it tested and it runs like it should. so i think its the teeth in my flywheel that is mess up. cant really check it out right now cause no one is with me to crank my car so i could see if its chipped. but im 95% sure its my flywheel then cause i dont think theres another way it would be grinding? ill keep it updated. lmk if you guys think its something else thanks!
