Just wondering which of my fellow zilvians play said game...?


shits pretty badass...im totally new to it...just picked up the Elite Xbox and started playing my own campaign...been using a buddies for a good bit of time...

so anyone here play...your thoughts...tips for a new player?

play online. you will learn a lot of stuff playing online. i used to play TONS when it first came out. before COD came out it was much better, more people played. MANY people jumped shipped and never looked back. personally i like halo much better... just not as many people on as there used to be. u see more hard core halo guys so its hard sometimes to get an "easy" opponent

memorizing the stages is important too.

halo 3 is awesome, but the 1st halo is still my favorite... i was the shit at that game. in college i was getting my ass handed to me regularly until i went home for my first winter break and played the whole time, came back whippin ass.

i was all about halo 3 when it first came out. then cod4 dropped onto the scene, and i never looked back.

im getting COD aswell its just i havent played Halo since the original i wanted to get back into it since Halo Wars is coming out pretting soon...but i need pick up my COD copy asap...like today...lol

Halo 3 is good, but its alot about memorization, and timing. To be seriously good (I played a little MLG) you need to remember spawn spots, weapon spawns, along with some of the more important areas, and the lastely the transitions from one part of the a stage to another via jumps. Most areas have names (sniper tower, blue 1, blue 2 etc) and these are good to know. Weapon combos are also very important, but if your new just work on using the BR. Eventually work your way up, the AR is probably the best weapon for all around combat, and Sniping is an aquired skill (I was never very good at it). Hit me up sometime, GT: reparlana. I mostly play COD4 but I'm sure i could show you a couple things in Halo3

awesome tips....ill deff hit u up and add yah to my list...thank you...snipping im usually good at... older COD MOH MGS, all requiring snipping and ive been pretty good at learning it...its different since im used ot PS2 controller, Xbox is wider, wierder for me...not used to using the rear triggers for fireing, im used to using [ ] on ps2 or X

I ALWAYS use dual weild those handguns that shoot saber rounds? with the knife shit under em?

Deals mad damage, high firerate, and knocks out their shields fast.

Work on Jumping and keeping with the target.

I suggest playing a group of local friends in Melee Only. its makes it harder to keep the bulls eye on em at closer range, which happens more often than you'd like in a real game. master close range reaction time, and your mid/distant shooting will jump up too.

Oh yea, and manuever like a madman. Strafe, jump, crouch (unused by many, overlooked, underappreciated) and do whatever. Pre'Nading your zones is fun too.

See a corner? Pre Nade it.

I was checking everyone's account and you seemed to be the only good player. lol Everyone else didn't seem that good. I play just about every night. I have been a little off my game though. I don't take it as serious as I used to.

Key to this game, TEAM SHOOT and learn how to use the BR. It will always be your main weapon.

Halo 2 is where it's at...I used to play everyday, up to level 33, not great but not horrible...my friends I used to have local tournaments and dominate..MLG..BxR's, double shots, all that good stuff...then I got a life, and a 240 haha. I still play from time to time though, not online though I do miss it though. I would probably still be playing but my box died on me so I said Eff it.

But like others have said, use the BR (battlerifle) and use it A LOT. Don't crank your look sensitivity either, keep it default or one above. If it were still Halo 2 I would say learn to use "Boxer" controller layout (makes BxR's and double shots a lot easier), but it's Halo 3 and they got rid of the good stuff so controller layout doesn't really matter as much. Throw grenades a lot, not necessarily to get kills at first, but to learn and remember like, how they act I guess, how far they will travel if thrown from said angle. Then you'll be able to lead a person with a 'nade the way you would a Sniper shot.
List goes on and on...best bet is to just play online and when you find a group you play good with stick with them for a while, and learn each others tactics, it will help you overall.

I used to play a lot(halo2 I got up to a 35/36), and I been as high as a 39/40 on halo 3, but I'm not really that good(rankings don't always mean that much). I played halo 2 w/a couple of premies once, and that was fun. My gamer tag is DrtyRat. Most of the time, when I play, its w/my 9yr old son (Zion99), so if anyone plays w/us please watch your language.
