I was just wondering if a haynes manual for an altima will help in working on my 240? Dont the altimas come with the ka24de? Is the altima ka different from the 240?

No. It's front wheel drive. The tranny will not work, and neither will most parts off an Altima, such as cams.

mine is a '92, i think the altima MAFS is a bit smaller in diameter than the 240's i think i may have an altima MAFS on mine and it works it just lost a bit of power.

Well i knew that. I was just wondering if simple maintenance issues like changing belts and such can be adressed by using that manual since they dont make one for the 240.

Sorry I wasnt being clear. I am not talking about using a "manual" trasmission from an altima, im talking about a Haynes repair "manual" for an altima. Im talking about a book, not a tranny.

Chilton's sells a 240SX manual...if you want a crappy manual, get that one. If you want a good manual, spring for the FSM. Don't waste your money on a Haynes Altima manual. There are way too many things that are different.

Are you buying the guide? Most of the Haynes/ Chilton's I've seen in the library have multiple cars per volume. I borrowed one to try and replace the dash on my gf's altima and it also had all the info for the 240.

Check you library if you only need it for a short period of time. Those manuals are more beginner friendly, but I think the FSM is far more useful if you're spending the money.
