Clicking when turning the key

I recently bought a 89 s13 hatch, it had no motor but already had the dash plug wired for the de and everything ready for a dual cam. So i dropped the motor hooked everything up and when i turn the key, the only thing im getting is just a clicking sound. It only clicks once when i turn the key. Has anyone else had this problem, or any ideas as to why this is happening? Thanks

Sounds like your starter motor isn't engaging.. Check to see if its meshing correctly or is recieving enough current.

to check it. try running a booster cable from the starter bolt to a chasis ground. this will work to comfirm it.

Yup everybody here is right. check your starter for any loose connections and make sure you have a good ground. Also check your battery terminals to make sure there's a nice clean contact and it's not hitting any part of your chassis, thus creating a ground.
I had that problem with my car and when I checked it, my ground was hitting the battery hold down bracket.

Good luck

Thanks for all the input guys! Iv checked the starter and everything there is how its suppose to be. And i checked the battery ground and its fine.

There is a relay up at the front though on the drivers side that clicks one time every time i turn the key.
Here is a short video and picture of what im talking about.

The arrow points to which relay its coming from
