SR20 alternator belt install problem/question

Oooook.

So,here is the problem: Alternator belt sheared off, went to buy a new belt.

I looked up on zilvia for a gates # got it went to autozone. As an exact replacement, i was sold a DAYCO 5050370 belt.

I go to install, Loosen the 12mm on the black bracket on the front of the alternator, then on the side of the alternator i loosen the long 12 mm bolt in the tensioner galley to the point where it is almost out of the block at the end of it, and the alternator isnt moving much

I need like about an inch of movement to getit on. fuck.

any other bolt on the front of the alternator i need to loosen?????

s13 sr redtop btw. thanks

Did you loosen the long bolt on the top ? When looking at it from the front, its on the top right I think. It allows it to swing.

If my memory serves me right, you need to tighten the block part 1st (should be about 1/2 way or so on the bracket and then adjust the long bolt accordingly. For the block positioning there should be some scratch marks on the bracket where it was previously.

That long bolt just holds the alternator in place. If you are trying to put the alternator back in, you have to support it so that way it lines up with the holes and the bolt just gets pushed in. You can try jiggling the bolt while pushing it in so it kinda catches the hole and it should slip right in.
