Battery Relocation

Hey guys. I just relocated my battery into the trunk. I ran my wire(4gauge) through the fender and tucked under the side skirts to the rear trunk. Use my Strut bolt as my (-) . It starts up but its weak and the battery is fully charged. I also keep on blowing 80 amp main fuse. So far im guessing my wireing is loose and jump. any ideas?

Did you scrape the paint away so you have a good ground? From what I read, 4 gauge is on the small side. I'm currently relocating my battery and I ordered some 0 gauge wires.

there might be a pinch in the power wire, or tear in the insulation.
I would also suggest thicker wire. 2 guage min.

I would upgrade to at least a 2 gauge wire and run a 100A fuse as close to the battery as possible.

Yeah I ran 0 gauge. Your ground sounds iffy too like stated above.

run 0 gauge to and from, thats the CORRECT way to do it. Check and re-check grounds if you still run into problems.

I ran a 4 gauge wire when I relocated my battery and it did the same thing you said at start up (weak cranking). My friend relocated his but he used a 2 gauge wire and his starts up perfectly every time no delay or slow cranking. I eventually took out my relocation setup and bought a Miata battery works perfect for me now no issues!
