Battery / relocation questions

My new 240 has had the stock battery relocated to the back, battery tray and all with NO box. From my understanding, this is very unsafe as a conventional battery will release hydrogen gasses inside the driving compartment (since it's in the trunk) unless it is in a sealed box with a breather tube.

I visited a local shop today that specializes in battery's and was going to buy a marine box and run a tube from that through the outside of my car. However, the salesperson there advised me that this was a bad idea, and gave me 2 other options. The 1st option was to buy a conventional battery ($100 + tax) that was in some special case with 2-built in holes in the top that are designed for breather tubes. The 2nd option was to buy a special "AGM" battery that would cost $250. AGM's as I was told, do not emit any gasses as they are made up of one solid mass.

Is it safe to run a marine box and not have gasses releasing everywhere?

or..

Do I have to buy the battery mentioned in the 1st option?
