Fuel injector question

Long story short i have two fuel rails both with 4 270cc dohc ka injectors. My problem is that one rail has cream color plastic nipples at the ends and one of them is broken like someone dropped the injector and the nipple cracked.

The second rail is similiar except instead of complete circles all four of the injectors have just a circle with 4 little pegs that dont really seem to do anything. On the peg rail i have one of those little pegs broken off. So what is the point of these little nipples on the end of the injectors.

I am assuming they are for sealing to the intake manifold. Would it be alright if i just mix and match the rail and have four unbroken nipples or what should i do. I can provide pics if necessary.

Edit: Here is a really good picture of what i mean. Top being the four peg and the bottom being the complete circle nipple.

they are supposed to help with atomization, but they will run just fine if the tabs are broken. You CAN mix and match, just as long as you know they are the same flow rate. You may want to send them to RC Injectors and send them out to have them bench flow tested, make sure they're not clogged, dirty, and don't need replacement.

We've discussed this numerous times before.

'Pintle caps' are what you're referring to.

i pulled a dead injector a few days ago. it probably looks similar to yours:

as far as i know the ones with one solid piece and the ones with the four pointy things are both 270cc and do the same job... but i've never seen a broken one with the one solid pintle cap. i'm going to get a set of four of them together and send them off for cleaning, i recommend you do the same

protip: the junkyard won't find a bag of injectors hidden in your underwear

The pintle cap does NOT help with atomization. The pintle cap is there to ensure the lower o-ring does not slip which could result in hydrolock. If you dont know, then dont answer.

Nice reading skills, asshole. Nowhere did I say that. I said that the part the OP was referring to was called the pintle cap, that's it. Therefore he could do more research by actually using the correct term, instead of saying 'the thing with little prongs' or whatever he decided to use.

Thank you , Captain obvious. If we want the god blindingly obvious, we always have you standing by with your useless generic answers. You take every opportunity to insult people when you have nothing but a very superficial understanding of mechanics which you gained from dismantling cars to sell parts. I have no problem with people with low IQ's but I do have a problem with retards who don't know their place in this world.

Russ has been helping since the dawn of time - you, just joined a fucking month ago. His answers are consistently on-point and comprehensive - when I post a question in a thread, it's him I'm hoping will answer above all. Your answer was also helpful, but trying to knock him down a peg won't earn you any friends around here.

it's also not how it was done. i use vice grips to turn them and then pop them out with a washer and a flathead.

Lol, cool, but shouldn't be turned either. If you pull them straight out with a flathead, you can usually re-use the O-rings. Twisting can tear 'em on the way out.
