trying to hit up the dyno need some help.
ok im trying to go hit the dyno tommrrow. what you all think will be safe for me to do as far as whp. im looking for about 350-400 just dont no if its going to be safe. heres a list of what i have
sr20det redtop compress..checked it 150-155-150-155 t3t4 turbo(ebay turbo but has seen 350whp on my other car no problems) topmount manifold (ebay as well welds look pretty soild should be ok) 38mm wastegate ( tial 38mm ) 550cc sidefeed injectors (flow tested 550 across the bord ) airmotive FPR safc2 (i heard this is no good but the turner is my best friend and he has supras putting down 600+whp with safc2) FMIC the redtop motor is 100% stock nothing is done internally just a bone stock reptop with my upgrades in it. what would be safe whp for me to run on this setup. also what is the max i can run like i said i would like to be about 350 -400 and i know my tuner can get me there and still have a rich A/F. thanks guys. |

i forgot to say that i have a stock maf still. i heard i can get 300 320 on it some say yes some say no. ill shot for whatever i can get with the stock maf. once i get the rest of the bolt ons then ill shot for more. i think the turbo will be fine its not lagy right now its seem to be ok. its a .63 on the hot side so it should spool up about 2500-3000k and full boost at 3500-4000k. maybe less then that |

300hp max with a stock MAF, infact I wouldn't even push it that high. Stock MAF's are usually maxed out around the 275hp mark. Throw the SAFC in the trash and get a real tune...

its all about the tune, ive seen reliable 400whp on stock internals with a good tune, ive also seen ebay turbos bolted on and the motor blew at 300 its all about the tune and supporting mods. if youve got a good tune for that turbo then you should be fine to push 400 if you want, you gotta figure the car isnt continually making that much power and if you can make that power without detonation then youll be fine,

What fuel pump are you running? 200whp without a fuel pump...but yah that MAF is gonna hold you back. You'll know when it hits the wall, you'll think you just blew your engine.

So it is all dependent on the tuner. In terms of AFM, yes you will need a Z32 MAF to get to the HP you desire. You will also need a competent EMS and a good timing map to base your tuning or at least testing on for desired output I think the question is sort of phrased wrong though because it has more to do with how much boost the engine will be able to handle and how the dyno is calibrated. Guessing at what output you will have on the dyno is not a good thing to do and will often leave you coming up disappointed If your engine is in tip top condition and the turbo compressor is efficient to the levels of power you desire it will be up to the dyno operator to carefully watch what your torque does according to how your EMS is tuned. In any case the point is I have tuned stock Internal SR's to 400 and even 500 hp reliably even on 91 octane gasoline and it is totally possible as long as the engine is in excellent shape, well serviced and the cooling and oil systems have been updated or at least well maintained.
