DUMB ASS brake install question

DUMB ASS QUESTION, but i've heard different advice, so fuck it......

1. I've always used that blue spray stuff on the back of the pads to prevent squeeking. Seems to work well. ANyone use different/better stuff?

2. Who actually greases the PAD where it slides in the caliper? NOT TALKING ABOUT THE CALIPER SLIDES, but the top and bottom of the pad, just the little part that sits/moves in the caliper? (obviously keeping it off the pads face for the brilliant people who may see this thread later)

1.I use this red sticky goo material. Works fine for me.
2. No. But if it makes a difference between brake noise I may do it the next time I change out my pads.

Man up?? Man up to what? An annoying brake squeeking sound? It takes like 30 seconds to apply the goo, why not do it and NOT have them squeak.

btw I use the red stuff too. Seems to work for me.

if u install your brakes correctly they are not suppose to make noise. Unless they are "hardcore" ceramic brakes. Man up and install correctly.I apply brake quite or brake grease to wherever the brake pad is gunna be in contact with other parts.

Ceramic pads lower brake noise. Metallic and semi-metallic pads still contain properties which will cause them to still have noise.

I've never used any shims, grease, spacers or anything else on any of the hundreds of brake jobs I've ever done.

Put the pads in, go. The only ones that made noise were the shitty $15 pads.

1.Blue Disc Brake quite on the back of the pads where it meets the caliper
2. Brake lube on where the pads slide against the caliper
These two methods applied will never make you brakes sqeek if done properley.

It is a good idea to use grease. I use all purpose bearing grease and it works great for me. As for applying the grease on the side of the pads in a good idea. Not really to eliminate noise but just makes it easier for the pad to slide in and away from the rotor so it doesn't create dragging of the pads.

The only pads that squeaks are those crazy high performance pads or the cheap piece of shit pads. If you go with something like oem Nissan pads, project mu, or ebc your pads shouldn't make any noise. And if you do not want any noise for sure then run some ceramic pad, they are a softer compound which is less harsh on the rotors. If it still makes noise then it might be that you need new rotors or need to get them resurfaced.

rather than putting grease on the brake pad contact points to the calipers, try using some anti-seize. It works much better at withstanding heat. For calipers like 300zx or brembo 4 pods apply a small thin coat of anti-seize on the pins so they pads can float freely.
