When eliminating un-needed wires from the engine harness...

Ok im in the final stretch of finishing my tuck and i have a couple question i thought id post up on here to try and ge some answers and tips on how to go about some things. Im still a bit unsure, i think i just need some re-assurance that im doing it right.

To give you a quick run down on my car I eliminated the whole EGR system and AC from the car, but kept my IACV. So far the stuff with X's accross them im pretty sure i wont need. The stuff with ?'s I'm not sure if i could eliminate. Everything else im pretty sure stays (who needs injectors right? LOL)

My only other question is when eliminating the unnesscary wires, is it correct just to follow the wire's both ends, cut and tape, or is there a better way? For example the EGR Sel. wires are light green and light brown. The brown taps into another matching brown wire further in the harness that leads to the IAVC harness (see F15 to F26). So would i just cut the brown from where it taps into the line running to f26 and tape? then run the light green wire (f15) out of the harness completely, cut and tape, as far back as possible?

Any help is greatly apreciated as always...

u know what would really help u out is a wiring dvd. the best way to modify the engine harness is to use flux on the wires then solder the wires and shrink wrap them. when cutting multiple wires cut at different lengths to prevent shorts. always re-tape over new connections with electrical tape. also for the wire that taps into the brown it soundssafe to remove just make sure u covere with shrinkwrap and re-tape over.

I did the different lengths method for my main harness, so thats already taken care of and in its place. My main question is about the engine harness its self. im pretty sure aswell on removing the egr solenoid just wanted someone to reassure me on the correct way.

There is no 'correct' way. You can cut back and insulate or completely remove from the ECU plug, it doesn't really matter as long as it's not going to ground out later. For the brown lead, it does indeed split up through out the harness, just cut the leg from the circuit not need, then insulate the OE splice. If that's not clean enough, cut the splice out, then reconnect with solder and heatshrink.
