![]() i had JIC FLTA2 japan spec that i used for heavy track, daily drive and drift use for 2 years. i alternate my JIC FLTA2 with my JIC SF1 and Cusco Comp2. i sold my comp2 last year (i liked it but my friend really needs it) now i got stuck with SF1 and FLTA2.
i retired my SF1... ( actually for sale now) the FLTA2 has been abused at the tracks a lot.. it's actually come to a point that my JIC has become too soft for my driving style and my car setup. now... i got tein he. so far, the best coilovers i have ever owned. i haven't tuned it yet, but it feels pretty good compared to all the coilovers i had in the past (cusco comp2, jic flta2 and sf1). i highly recommend it... i will do a full review complete with pictures of my recommended setting for drifting. stay tuned... TEIN HE owners: post ur settings, let's compare and see what we like. spring rate - 9F 7R |

i got HE but hate them. but thats mostly because of the spring rates and valving is too soft for all that track stuff.
when i get another set of coilovers (very soon), i'll send my current into tein for the same setup as yours: 9/7kg or 9/8 kg (probably 9/8) anyways, CURRENT is the stock from Tein 8/6kg. bleh. hate it. toooo soft! going to a 7kg rear spring soon and that might help. front feels good just back is bleh...just dont like it at all! ![]() |

i do everytime at the track...
the back is too soft for what i like front is ok but still rubs the fender sometimes compresses too much. need to bump up rates to at least a 9/7 or higher.i dont think i could take a 10/8 on daily drive streets. |

I installed HE's yesterday, so I can't really comment on custom setups. I haven't had a chance to try them out on the track. dousan, you're hardcore. Either that or the streets where you live are really nice.

Does any coilover come 9/7? Max I have ever seen is 8/6, but like you guys said thats a little too soft, but to too bad either.

9/7? yes and no
yes in japan. no in the USA yes in the USA if you request custom specs/valving whcih JIC/Tein/etc do yes it will cost more money and possibly take longer before you get product. |

12/10 is just outrageous... even the 10/8 i had was too much. because my suspension is not giving in, something else gives in.
it's just the law of physics.. something has to give. so far i have replaced the following parts because of damaged - my tension rod bracket, control arms and my frame has seperation. that's due to hard driving with super stiff suspensions. something has to absorb the weight being transfered. if i driver a little harder my tires will give. so i decided to go a little softer. on street tires 9/7 is ideal. friendly on the road and competitive on the tracks - just settings in general. unless ur doing full time racing... then maybe u should look into stiffer stuff with bracings. but for occasional racer like me.. i think i'll be happy with the 9/7 - tein he. |

i used to be hectic with tein products because of the tein ha. but i guess every manufacturer has flaws. since tein updated their techology and design, they are now capable of building quality dampers. tein also valves for other dampers in japan. then big it gets relabeled. they also have an onsite research and development here in california. they can cater to our roads and demands.
dollar per dollar, you get more with tein he. it has almost the same functionality with the flta2 height/damping adjustability. also, tein customer service is awesome! i will update this thread with more results as we go on. i haven't tested and tuned it yet to my driving style. when i do, i will share it to all of you. |

I have few ?'s driftheaven if you don't mind...
1. How much extra for the custom specs/spring rates? 2. How long did it take to get them and from what shop? 3. Say if you had 8/6 HE's already and you wanted to go stiffer spring rate, is it advisable to just change the springs without revalving the dampers to accept the stiffer spring rates? Thanks |

tein customer service does rock
ive emailed them...ooh 5 or so times and always areply on the phone SUPER COOL never had that w/ JIC.... fooddude #3. you can go up or down 1kg spring rate on the stock valving of the coilover safely. beyond that you need a revalve job. facilities in the USA, turn around is probably pretty quick. last time i checked it was 100 dollars per shock. |

fooddude:
1. i have off the shelf TEIN HE but i changed the spring rate to 9F 7R - no complains. the dampers are at half on all 4. 2. TEIN HE is on stock at TEIN. as far as distributor, depends where you're at. just go to ur local distributor. halz: i know... that [email protected] address for some reason doesn't reply. what do u need from them? i'll see if i can get hold of anyone there. or better yet, call them up 562.633.7387 try! |

Heres the mail I sent [email protected]...

...basically, I'd like to be able to purchase parts to more or less rebuild the camber plates. Not to mention, the camber plate bearings are wear items, and should be replaced eventually. |

There was a time where one of thier reps called me up at work cuz they needed a S14 for testing of some new coilovers (cuz they thought i had an s14 since when my job would send me to pick up parts from them, I would always bug em about 240 stuff) in exchange i woulda got free coilovers, but I didnt have an s14....
But one of the reps did tell me the HE where being discontinued but I guess special order from japan or something. I think later on, ill sell my HR and pick up some GP Sports coilovers, seem like they might be competitive towards the HE.

Yes, Its an OLD thread but I was doing some searching rather than making a new thread, so eat a deek if you try to flame me.
Charlie- I remember you saying that you had blown two sets of JIC before. I recently got myself an S13 and I can get the FLTA2 for "hella" cheap. What is your view on those JIC's? Is it worth the money, And you know how I am. I travel everywhere just get some track time. Drift drift drift drift. Thanks Al |
