I need about 120 to 160+ amps at idle. I'm looking to achieve this with a rebuilt or brand new oem 90 amp '95 KA24DE alternator. |

Do the Quest alternator, and you'll get 125A just off idle (1500rpm or so). That's A TON. If you want bigger, you'll have to retrofit a 'real' high output alternator for car audio applications, which have outputs of ~300A, and cost a ton ($400+).

I know 'some guy' on the web mods factory KA24DE Alternators to output over a 100 amps at idle (600-700 rpm) and 220 max at 1500 rpm. He's been doing this for all other vehicles probably since the early 2000's.
I'm looking to see if anyone on here knows about this, and has tested it out on a 240sx. Or if anyone on here, with a legit electrical business, can obtain a used 80 or 90 amp KA24DE alternator (95-96 240sx), modify rectifier, add as many diodes as necessary, replace bearings and all parts necessary to make the alternator a fully functional direct drop-in/plug-in. My car has very good grounds at the moment so power side cable requirements (alt. to batt.) will be suggested by builder. Thanks. Last edited by democong; 12-26-2009 at 07:14 PM.. |

Ok people, found some Engineers out in Dallas, TX. that can rebuild the stock Hitachi's to output ~70 amps @ idle (600-700 rpms), and ~165 amps at about 2500 engine rpm.
send pm if you're interested. Thanks for the help guys. |
