![]() I need to replace my exhaust manifold gasket, and the gasket that goes between my exhaust manifold and the turbo. Well if i can get away with just the exhaust manifold/turbo gasket it'll be alright, but i've been told u need to take off the manifold to get the other gasket ?
Can anyone give me any step by steps? |

There's no step by step process. Just unbolt stuff. I have done it three times now and the nuts holding the turbo to the manifold will give you some serious issues. Take your time and keep your patience and you will get them.
Easiest way I have found: -loosen nuts holding manifold (don't remove) -unbolt turbo from manifold and remove -remove manifold from block Reason I do it in that order is you can shimmy the manifold around to make it easier to get the turbo off the studs Have fun... muahahahahah

mm things that need to be unbolted... hotpipe, intake pipe, and both the metal pipes that they connect to on the turbo (makes it easier to get out) unbolt your downpipe. get a drain pan. unbolt two banjo bolts (dont lose the clips) one is oil one is coolant. (remeber to refill both) there is a hose underneath the turbo and one that goes behind the block. remove those. unbolt manifold and wrestle it out. not a fun job. did it two weeks ago. next time a bigger turbos going on that sucker. reinstall in reverse order.. double check ALL THE HOSES. I forgot the oil return line on mine. started the car and dumped a quart and a half of oil. had to jack the car back up at 4a.m. in the rain and crawl under the car in my club clothes so I could get home.

I did leave out the fact that I disconect the hot pipe but damn i can't belive you do all that to get to the gasket. If you just take out the manifold and leave the turbo in place you will save alot of time and trouble when putting everything back together. Not to mention you won't have to get under the car in club clothes. Like I said in my first post, I unfortunately have had to do this three times. Due to tracking my car and burning the base gasket up and have never run into a problem the way that I have done it
