I AM FREAKIN FRUSTRATED I CANT FIX THE power steering, belt etc.

hello, i posted a couple of days ago about how i lost my powersteering,, and my car overheats (s14) because the belt came off. people suggested i loosen the "tension bolts" AND I DID, what do i do after i loosen it???? nothing moves, it doesnt make putting the belt on any different!! i took it off put it back like 10 times, i damn near took off everybolt under my hood and NONE affects the fact taht the belt is TOO tight to put back on!!! whats going on?!?!?

i havent driven my car for a week and i NEED it for next week, maybe someone could come down and help me do it !! i live by union landing in bay area cali!!

1.) did you buy the correct new belt?
2.) are you trying to adjust the PS pump by hand at all? sometimes it gets stuck and doesn't like to move freely.
3.) it's not rocket science.. just look at how it's put together and figure out what needs to happen for you to be able to slip the belt over the pulley.

hey

hey, first make absolutely sure you have the right belt for your car.

i have an s13 SR and i got the belt everyone said to get, but for some reason it was wayy too big. i put a rope around the pulleys to see the length i needed, went to autozone and got it.

THEN to put it on, hopefully you have a manual trans. situate the belt to go on, put it all on the ps pulley, then put it as much as u can on the crank pulley and hold it .... then just put it in reverse and slowly push the car backwards. it will slowly turn the crank to go on. if you just start the car the crank will turn too fast and it will snap.

again make sure you have the right size because i bought a size too small and it snapped in half before i got the right size.

There are two tensioner bolts. One on the backside which I figure is a sort of lock for the regular tensioner that is up front/on the side. Loosen the tensioner (the long bolt) an try to push the PS unit down to take up the slack you just created. If youc an't push by hand, a mallet usually works for some strong negotiations.

Take some time looking around the pump, see how things are laid out and how they work. Once you figure out how the tensioner works, it's cakewalk.
