Fluid Leak..Any Ideas?
MY car is leaking coolant. Not very much, and only when the car has been off a while, IE every morning. I havent had time to check it out really, but aside from the rad hoses and the rad itself, what else can I check?
and where is the waterpump? I hope its nothing major... Thanks

A small amount of coolant this time of year must be expected.
The waterpump is directly behing the fan shaft. Look at where the leak is coming from. Perhaps it is the overflow canister...and again, that can happen. Where the heater hoses go into the firewall is another place to inspect. See, the radiator , waterpump, hoses, heatercore, even the drain spout...are all good plces to check. Just keep the system full and if anything is leaking other then the outflow pipe of the overflow canister, then repair it. I find that even a minor leak at a hose connection is a major irritant, and this is the time to replace all the hoses.] \ I wish you good luck in finding the leak twitchy... |

Thanks bill. I still have to get under the car and have a look at things to satisfy my peace of mind, although I looked from above the engine under the hood and everything looked AOK, no visible leaks. The cars rad is original although its never seen winter and is in great shape.
as you said, come to think of it, this time of year to expect leaks...This morning it was like 35 degrees celsius...thats a record for up here. Well thanks again, Ill keep you posted
