Sr = stooopid! Boosts when It feels like It

My friend has a sr20det black top s13. Side mount,wb fuel pump. 3"inch exhaust and a boost controller. He wanted me to turn up the boost so I turned It up to 12. The guy doesn't know much about cars at all. or how to even drive a turbo car properly. couple days later he calls me and says it stopped boosting and It was smoking. So I go check It out. There Isn't any blow by or smoke coming from oil cap.

I compression checked the engine It had 145 all across. so I changed his turbo with another good doner. I disconnected his boost controller and we took It for a test run. It ran fine boosted 8psi. felt nice and healty. We stopped. and behind Is a huge cloud of smoke (the same thing It was doing with the other turbo). so we wait and It goes away. we boost check again, stop and boom more smoke.

What could this be??!?!?!? Compression on engine Is 145 all across. no blow by. no smoke at a idle or driving. the smoke only comes after hard boost. Could It be something wrong In the head? bad valves? valve stem seals? Maybe leaky head gasket?
