SR some general intake questions / ignitor chip??? / wiring advice

hello,

first;

i finally recived my sr20det today! and now i need to start planning certain variables like my intake, i have decided NOT to get raped by some shop to do my intercooler piping and try to do it myself. my idea:

(note: please tell me problems that could occur)

~use exhaust piping to connect compressed air outtake to intercooler then to engine, connect these pipes using silicone hose and ringclamps.

but i have some questions, for example i do not have the stock intercooler so i do not have the recirculating valve. i plan to only use stock boost for now, is a BOV nessesary?

will the silicone hose clamped to the piping be air tight?

===========================

next;

i have a semi cut harness when i got the engine is there any chance i have the ignitor? i thought it was on the harness mounted on the engine, or is it sapposed to be mounted on the firewall? and what lines can i trace to find the chip? example, from where to where, pics would be fantastic!

===========================

lastly;

as i mentioned above i do not have the complete wiring, a guy contacted me saying he would rig my old harness with the pieces of my new one for $180 which includes return shipping, should i do this or wait for an inexpensive one to become available on ebay?

thank you!

~nik

well sounds like you are ready to go. but there are a few things that i would not want to have to deal with. 1 EX pipe will be kinda heavy. 2 have to have a way to bend the pipe. 3 unless it is mandrel(i think thats right) bent the the inside will not flow very good.

as far as the silicone hose, it should work fine because that it what is used on most i/c pipes anyway.

for the bov/bypass i do belive you have to have it there because if not then when you let off the gass to shift there is no where for the extra boost to go.

if it is an issue of money that you dont want to spend for the i/c and pipes and you are staying at stock boost then just do what i did and call some place like HT and see if they can get you a side mount. should be like 300 mabey and that should be with all pipes and every thing.

and sorry not to sure bout the harness. best bet it to get a full uncut one and use that. could save you alot of time.

o yeah and efter you get it all done let the motor break in for atleast 500 mi. i dident i was so happy i got in and took off after i got mine done. and over reved/mis shifted (so im told) and now have a loud tap from the rocker arm i have to fix....damn shim fell out of the valve spring o well
