Rectangular and oval exhausts
Why hasn't anyone done this?
What I'm talking about is using (obviously not necessarily this thick) piping in these fashions: ![]() ![]() ![]() Especially something like this: ![]() To me it makes complete sense to make fitment issues taken care of.. meaning on lower cars to not have to worry about bottom clearance, while allowing larger diameter for flow! It may not be as simple as regular piped exhausts but... this makes complet sense for alot of the go low fellas. |

In theory square/rectangle exhaust is supposed to flow more. A 2'', .065 wall square tube has more internal space than a 2'', .065 round tube..

I think most people dont do it because of cost. I would've done it but when I made my exhaust, I couldnt afford it

are you talking out of your ass, or do you have a physical proof of this? i mean...space is space. if they occupy the same amount of space, I don't see one flowing more than the other. |

I'm talking out my ass here, but I wonder if a round pipe might flow better because the air could vortex in the pipe. I don't know if that would make any difference. I wonder if the oval would change the sound at all. Straight pipe of the down pipe, no bends no nothing, would be loud as hell and might have a unique sound to it.

Assuming your cross sectional areas are the exact same, then it should not make a difference. |

D shaped exhaust?
I cut a length of 1'' stainless tube. Then had a company shear off some stainless sheet in 3'' widths sections... Or was it 4''??? Either way. I hate it. Wish I never made it now that I look back. Should have jsut told them to go pound sand so I can do it my way.. Which they ended up having to do after I left. |

the cross section of a square pipe gives you a little more area... ( the blue space ), Assuming they're the same width across and height from top to bottom... the rounded ends rob you a little bit. ![]() |
