Need some opinions (a bit long)
Sunday I spoke to someone who was looking to trade his s14 for an s13. We spoke at length and agreed to a trade of cars and $1000 cash. In addition, we would swap wheels because he wanted to keep his wheels. The only thing we didn't agree upon was when we could meet up to trade. He had work and didn't know his work schedule. We tentatively said to meet on Friday. I live 9 hours away by car so I asked him to call me back once he knows his work schedule. I needed to know so I can make travel arrangements.
Monday rolls around and all of a sudden he tells me he has new "offers" on the car. He received these after we had spoken on sunday and agreed to the above stated. I asked him what about our agreement to which he responded "oh we were just negotiating an offer." He also stated that he MUST consider their offer even though it was after our agreement. I'm of the opinion that he had sold the car to me and we just needed to meet and exchange money. Granted nothing had actually changed hands, but if he wanted a deposit, he could have certainly asked for it. Why in the world would I start making travel arrangements when I was just "negotiating an offer" Needless to say he took one of the other offers and I'm a little miffed. I've purchased 4 of my previous cars from owners in other states and I have never run into this kind of problem. So you all tell me, is it wrong for me to be a little ****ed off here? |

![]() For the record, pictures and full descriptions of the cars were exchanged. About as much information as one could expect given the distance between the two parties. |
