Did my 300zx brake swap, and now i have some questions...

Ok i did my 300zx brake & MC swap today and took it for a drive. I def feel a difference but i noticed after burning in my brakes that i need to warm up the pads before they grip harder. also i don't have abs, there for when i gradually apply the brakes harder and harder, the car doesn't lock up when my foot hits the floor. is this to be expected not haveing abs? but when i jab the brakes hard, the sure lock up quick. one more thing did some 95 se come with a lsd and no abs?

Hrm.... What type of pads are you using?

All can say is make sure you bleed the brakes properly. THe brakes should lock up if you put enough pressure.

LSD and ABS were a package. Its either all or nothing.

think i found the problem, the line to the caliper was spraying fluid, hence the leak. going to tighten it up now. hopefully this will fix it.

Just did my swap too, excellent

I've easily engaged the ABS when stopping hard so you should be able to lock the wheels up easily. btw- i didn't upgrade the MS

hows your petal feel? mine is rock hard, but i think i might have air in the system because of the loose line, and thats what i think might be causing my petal to hit the floor before the car is either stopped or wheels locked up. def major improvment though. blackfox one question though, does your master cylinder have 2 or 3 lines to it?

Incorrect. My brother has a 95 SE with ABS and no LSD. They indeed were a package and you do usually find them together, but they could also be had as seperate options on the SE models. Basically no gaurantees with the S14's

Also make sure you have the calipers on the correct sides or else you will never be able to bleed the brakes correctly and always have air in the lines. The bleeding nipple should be at the top of the caliper. If its not you have the caliper on the wrond sides.

That Z32 MC is not a good idea to use unless you have the Z32 rear brakes.. just a reminder.

ok i figured out my problem. when the line was leaking at the fitting it was sucking air into the system and so i need to bleed the system again. as for the mc, it comes down to preference, some say its a bad idea some say its a good idea. personally i wouldn't have done the swap with out the mc. i like how the petal feels. oh and as for my car not haveing abs and having a lsd. i am possitive that i am right. had to do a little testing. but i know i am right. madchild how did you get your soo cheap, were your calipers used? turbo240sx where was you mc leaking from?

I got mine fully loaded calipers from AUTOZONE for about 141.99 plus a $54 dollar core. The other parts and what nots i got it from srswap and pdm-racing. As far as the MC goes its not neccessary, because even though you are pushing more fluid though your system the 240sx MC holds to the potential. IN my opinion i think the only reason why you might would be most likly you got the front and the rear swaped(REAR IS NOT NECCESSARY STOPPING POWER COMES FROM THE FRONT) or maybe some guys other you upgraded to the cast iron 30mm ones. Whoever has done this
