Hey guys, I have just finished doing a lot of interior work on my car.. You've seen the seats and the gauges, but I want your opinion on my 'other' work... I want HONEST opinions guys, if you tell me I'm a ricey idiot that's fine but give me some reasons... In my oponion what I did looks nice without going past that very thin line between 'looking nice' and 'total rice'

It should be noted that at this stage, my car is mostly 'show' and not so much 'go'... The reason for this is that I was able to totally redo the interior (new carpet, reupholstered seats, the blue stuff, gauges, paint, etc etc.. ) for probably 850 bucks, including the 500 for the seats... The SR20 swap or KA24DET conversion will take at least 3-6000 dollars to do it the way I want... It was a simple matter of me being able to do the interior NOW as opposed to a year from now like the engine...

So, I humbly submit to your judgement.. Am I a ricer or not?? The pics on this site are large and there is a 3 meg quicktime movie... Sorry to the guys with modems!

He's got some mods to show for it though. Someone already said it, I gotta agree: a Nissan emblem would be a little better than a GTR emblem... Be careful, though... ALWAYS listen to girls opinions.

I don't know, if yours sporting the power of a GTR some 270 hp at the flywheel, then go for it.

But maybe a SILVIA decal would be more appropiate. I guess he didn't do his homework.

Well, I saw the GTR emblem at Autozone and thought it was neat, plus it was like 10 bucks... If I had thought of it, I would have put a Nissan badge in there, I may even still do that...

I'd like to add that I HATE neon in cars, which makes me kinda curious as to WHY I put it in mine... lol!!

Basically, I needed something to light up the GTR emblem, and I bought a 10 inch stick of blue neon that I thought would fit into the center console... but didn't... It did however fit into the door pocket *perfectly... So that's how it happened... the light around the door panels is just this string light stuff that looked like such a NEAT product I had to put it somewhere, lol...

I'd also like to say in my defense that the neon is very hard to see from outside the car... the A pillars have a *very slight blue glow, and you can see the stringlights in the door if you are in a truck or something...

Also, the pics make it look much brighter than it really is... I think that if a lot of you were to see the car in person, you might think it actually looked good... I dislike ricey stuff as much as you guys do and IMO what I did is still on the side just before rice hehe....

BTW one good thing is that now that I have completed the interior I can save money for my engine swap or turbo so that I can back up the look of the interior with some power =P

Honestly I can see how some total ricemobiles get to the point that they do... It's odd, it's almost like once you start modifying the interior of the car, there is this strange 'rice compulsion' that makes you want to do stuff that's just silly lol.... Anyways I appreciate the feedback even if you all think I'm a ricer now lol... (bows head in shame)

I've only got an Injen Intake and a GReddy catback. Some wires and plugs and that's all. I'll just do some touch-up on the paint chips I have now, and save money for a header and ECU and probalby do the same thing as you: paint and carbon fiber hood.

You ladies give me hope. That there are women in the world that would be fun to buy for, and know what I want them to buy me.

The other day I say 2 clueless girls buying their boyfriends momo boots. The thought they were looking for a shoe. No lie, a shoe.

Yeah I heard MOMO made great boots, but nobody seemed to have my size.....hehe. I will admit though that I do have to ask a lot of questions. I've only as of within the last year caught the speed bug. But I have to owe it to all my boys that took me under there wing and started talking to like a big girl when it came to cars. Only problem is the ones that don't drive mustangs and Z-28's drive Hondas. Im the only Nissan I know around here. That's what you guys and more importantly gals (sorry) are for...hehe

Me personally, Im all about style. (thats what i love about the 240 ) as long as you back it up with performance.
If it looks good without being cheap or tacky looking, then do it.
BlueSix, i think what you did with the gtr badge looks pretty #### cool! Although i would DEFINATELY swap it for a nissan badge. Also i would turn it 90 degrees so that it reads straight across. But i think it looks great!
The neon on the doors looks a little much, but you said the pictures make it look brighter than it is.
Also, how did you do that to your gauges. They look really nice. A friend of mine has been trying to figure out how to do that for awhile now, and no one seems to know.
I agree with you it is a little border line ricey, but it looks good. You've also put some money into performance and suspension mods which proves that your not all about the appearance of you car. I wouldn't go much further with the interior, but i give a thumbs up!

Yeah I am not going ANY further at all, like I said it's just that I was able to do the interior *now* since it was SO cheap to do a lot of the stuff... Plus it was fun, I got to take apart my whole car and put it back together again =D

The gauges came from www.importintelligence.com..

I got from them:
Blue Needle kit (they have red and green too)
Carbon Fiber look gauge overlays
Ultrawhite gauge cluster bulbs

If you get the cluster bulbs (the ones that backlight the gauges, not the needle kit), I really reccomend these, they make the gauges look way nicer, instead of that kinda yellowish color that they were lit up in, like the A/C lights up, it's now a very clean looking white.. It actually makes a really nice difference. BUT I only needed 3 bulbs for my analog 1992 240, not SIX like on the website.. there is space for 5 bulbs on the back of the cluster but two of them are on the extreme right and left side and don't even light up... So just order 2 pair and save 10 bucks.

The startbutton is and looks really cool. Is it functional?

As for the neon, not bad, but I'd lose it... the GT-R sign as well... go for a Silvia sign... way cooler IMO! But if you like it, then stick with it... it's your car after all

I like the neon around the door, and am familiar with the light strips you're talking about. I was considering getting them myself, actually. And the blue needles from import intelligence, thus running with a blue theme.

As for the GT-R logo, I think it's gotta go. I love the blue glow on it at night, but I don't particularly care for the fact it says GT-R because, well, that's ricey - pretty much even if the car is GT-R. Although, as I said, I like the blue glow, so perhaps you could consider what I would like to one day get off my lazy ass and do, and that's put a piece of clear plexiglass over the opening like you did, and a blue light next to it, like you did, but something else underneath it. I'm leaning towards the clear MB Quart crossover box for now.

Should I actually do everything to my car that I want to do (instead of just driving it), I'll post pics. With the cold weather coming, the joy of driving is starting to dwindle, so perhaps I'll replace that with the joy of working until spring rolls around and I won't be able to be near the car if it's stationary. =)

Dude props to the neon man. I like it, especially how it is blue. The gtr emblem really doesnt fit in but if i found one for 10. #### YEA id take it. But really you should look for a silvia emblem. Man who cares if a car is ricey. At least you knowing the fact that you got a nissan and not a honda which is slower, You'll be teh fastest ricer there is man.

The S2000 starter button is not functional *yet*... I have wired a relay for it and run all the wires for it, BUT I need to get my hands on one of those little circuit testers from radio shack so that I can know EXACTLY what wire I need to splice into, I have it narrowed down to 2 different wires, but I dunno which one hehe.... Thanks for giving me your honest opinions guys I appreciate it.. hehehe what I would LOVE

***LOVE***

Is to get a "Type X" emblem since my car isn't really a silvia, since it's a fastback... I guess it would be closer to the 180SX.. Of which the Type X was the highest trim level...
