180sx gets the shakes, and goes nowhere

Test drove another 180sx today and if you hold the revs at 3000-5000rpm and release the clutch, the car will just shake and and go nowhere

Had the exact same issue in my last 180 too so must be a common problem, could be plugs or coil packs or both? Has anyone had the problem and rectified it?

Apart from that the car was pretty much straight as an arrow and appeared to be one of the lesser flogged 180s ive driven, so any ideas?

I would check spark plugs and wires as a start. At least it would be one less thing it could be

check the ecu see if its throwing codes my ca was doing the same thing, check my coil packs and everything else. Ended up being the knock sensor went bad and pulled timing . Fixed it and was back on my way

literally go nowhere?

If so your clutch is fried and needs to be replaced.

If it drives but has no power and sounds like a WRX then its either a Spark or Fuel injector problem

It does sound like a wrx, i was thinking injectors could also be it, the clutch feels fine

Only way to cure a bad knock sensor is to replace it.

If it sounds like a WRX, one of the injectors or spark plugs might not be firing.

i did a bypass you use a 1m ohm resistor and wire it into the 23 pin on the ecu and ground it makes it think that the knock sensor is fine and then go from there if that works you can replace it or leave it
