gt2871r compressor wheel trouble!!!

ok guys i am looking to buy a used gt2871r from a guy that i just meet and the dude told me that he only had 5000 miles and its like new. so when i go and look at it i found that the compressor wheel nuts seems to look like its been griinded down on one side of the nut and i was like WTF!!! so i asked him about it and he tells me that he bought it new like that. and also its seemed to have minor shaft play he tells me that its suppose to be like that. please tell me what you guys think!!! thanks

Yousef, its supposed to be like that bro. Its balanced at the factory. They do that by grinding metal off little by little. A little shaft play is normal. Make sure you get injectors, maf, and a good way to tune it (not a safc) and tune it before you try to boost it much.

Actually, my bad, your right that turbo is bad, whos selling it so I can buy it? Will? Or Drew? The only 2 people in town that I know of selling a 2871.

Ball bearing turbos will have "some" shaft play. I think he's saying it's okay. It was a joke about the turbo being bad.

Yousef, you should have posted a picture of it. I wouldnt get it. The turbo has been apart and rebalanced. No idea who did it or how good of a job they did. Unless the price is around or under 500-600 I wouldnt get it.
