not a good choice for a daily or semi daily driver. unless you need to hold 450+ft/lbs of torque.

Had it on the KA
I'd recommend it, that clutch package totally kicks the nuts out of most. I had it on my 12valve and it by far made the car just THAT much more enjoyable to drive. Although... I am a super beefy track/soccer leg having monster. Get it, and you won't be disappointed...unless you have girly legs...

Dont get a clutch that is too powerful, cause it will put unnecessary wear on your drivetrain. If you plan on pushing what the clutch is capable of then get it. If not get a centerforce or any full disc clutch. Puck clutches are no-no in my book unless you're drag racing.

Can you explain why having a clutch that can handle 300 lbs/ft of torque would be worse for let's just say a stock KA. It doesn't make sense to me. Why would having more power protect your tranny any more. Thanks in advance.

The higher torque capacity your clutch has, the stronger the springs on the pressure plate are. Also the friction material on the disc is more grabby. This put extra stress on your transmission. Especially when it comes to a 6-puck that has shitty engagement. Having more power wont save your tranmission but there's no point in having a better clutch till you have the power to put down. Especially on a KA where 95 percent of KA motors out there can do fine with a stock clutch setup. Hey take it from the Drift King(not me lol) he says always use a clutch to fit your needs and nothing more.

I had a 6 puck on my last car. Trust me, unless its a track car you really don't want it.
I full face sprung hub will be the way to go and will hold all the power the average user can throw at it. Just get a heavy duty pressure plate and you will be fine. |
