I'm thinking about buying some MB Quart Refence 216 6.5" speakers w/ tweets and crossover. Any thoughts? are these good speakers?
I found a guy in Germany that will sell them for $150+$20 shipping. This a good price? |

MB Quart is alwyas worth the money, if i could afford them i would get them for sure...
do it, there may be people who dont like them, but they cant deny that Mb is great Shit... i had a guy at work yesterday who said that his Sony speaks were better than my infinity and boston... he had a solid system but it was in a beat up old lumina so his opinion doesnt really count anyways... |

Actually, I'm putting a ton of speakers in my car (far more than it needs, but I've got the stuff already, so I might as well use it). I have two pairs of MB Quarts and one pair of Sonys. I have one 2x55w amp and one 4x100w amp. Technically, all six speakers are about 30w RMS - but you can always just turn the amps down.
Anyway, my thinking was to 55w to each of the Sonys and 100w to all of the MB Quarts. Oh, one pair of MB Quarts are 2-ways, and the other pair is a set of components. The Sonys are 6" and the MBQ's are 5-1/4" (I think). Anyway, does that power distribution seem correct? Ya know what, while I'm on the subject .. In order to power six speakers off four RCA cables (front right, front left, rear right, rear left), I'll need to split two of them. Any thoughts regarding which I should split, or does that not matter because the split is before the signal hits the amps anyway? I know, I know, a car as small as mine doesn't need six speakers. It certainly doesn't need two powered subs either, but like I said, if you've got the equipment lieing around, you might as well hook it all up, right? Thanks for any thoughts. |

hmm seems like pretty good deal...MB Quartz is great but they are the greatest in my opinion. The place i usually go to sell them for $275 but that is with warranty and everything.
If you want i can recommend a ton of other less known but awesome speaker companies out there for that price. |

Well I just bought them, but I'm also looking into getting some 4x6 MB Quart Coax's for the back. I would love to find some 4x6 plates, w/ the mid and tweet seperate,by MB Quart but not sure if they make them. Any ideas?
so any recommendations are welcome gregshin. I'm gonna be running a Nakamichi MB-75 headunit (6-disk in dash.. OH YEAH) with the components up front - mids in the door w/ the tweets mounted on the Pillars. Then probably the 4x6's in the back. (just a note.. I've already had these in a 90' 240 hatch.. sounded awesome. only thing is the mounting holes don't match up. After a dremel tool to the factory mounts, it all worked out) Later installing 1 (maybe 2) Infinity Perfect 12" subs in the hatch. Sound like a good setup?? |

thats what I thought too. How hard is it to get the 5 1/4's in the back speaker area in the Hatch?
What do you think about the plate's that fit in the 4x6 space. they have like a 4" mid, and a tweeter. Any good? |

if you have a hatch you can make holes in the trunk cover thingy and put as many speaks in there as you want...
check whateverjames's webpage and look at his install, he's got like 300 pairs of speaks there |

true.. the midrange would be cheaper. I don't personally like the idea of having extra weight hanging from the little black plastic things on the trunk lid. They WILL break off. My 90 only had one, and every hatchback I looked at had at least one of them broken.
They also have a 4x6 adapter plate for the 4" driver. sounds like I have my rear speakers <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> Thanks Guys. Anybody have any ideas on where to get the Adapter plates from? |

Hey JeffNJ,
In response to your question about powering up 6 speakers of a 2 pair RCA jack system. Ideally you'd want to use a 4-channel amp for 4 and a 2-channel amp for the other two. Then just use 1+2 (a switch on the amp) to distribute that L/R (Front) signal to all 4 speakers... if you are just dealing with a two channel amps then yes. You can split it. You will lose a bit of signal strength, I don't think it would be that big of a deal. Jeff |
