sr20de swap info needed!!

Hi Im buying a sr20de silver top, jus the engine, Im wondering what I need to change for it to fit in my s13 coupe. And also what parts are needed since it is jus the engine, I know I probably need a wiring harness and what else? A guy who works at a nissan dealer said a wiring harness from a ka24de will work for it, but Im sure it doesn. If you have info for me that would be great. Thank you everyone!!!

Your better off buying an sr20det. Also your gonna need the sr wire harness and solder it with the ka. There's plenty of write ups and info for this but you have to search.

I agree with chucki. You are much better off buying an sr20det...preferably one with a trans too. the swap will be exponentially easier

See the reason why Im puttuing in this engine is cause im on a really tight buget and the car I bought had a blown ka, and im only geting this sr for $250, and on top of that its rebuild. Trus me if it were up to me and I had more money, yeah I'd probably put a sr with a turbo. An thank you Banana Cute for being cool about it.

Just get a used ka. Its cheaper and you don't have rewire everything when swaping an sr. You could probably get a good ka and put in some high performance internals or you could just run stock internal with low boost, depending on how you tune it. Then turbo it for more power. If you choose an sr, just go sr20det, much bettter.

its his money let him do what he wants with it

imo the ka is a better fit if you cant go sr20det

but if you dont plan on drifting and just using the car for errands and city driving by all means do it better on gas (kinda if you drive easy)

as far as the swap the ka will work but you have to mod it slightly
as far as mani chances are ur going to have to go custom seeing as they are a pita to find as well as most afftermarket support

but you can run itb's from the gtir head but the head has to be redrilled and tapped to seal

i plan on running one in my ae86 with a 6spd trans but it doesnt weigh as much

ecu's will work as well (from homework i have done but its all he said she said info so dont know 100%)

no we don't. we get super dumb founed to find out how much work it takes to get a NA sr running. And to think all that effort could have been avoided if you kept the turbo. that's why we are dumbfounded.

Let me ask you this. How much does it cost in just parts for a rebuild....

....and now you think this "dude" is just going to sell you a NA rebuilt SR for 250 including all the brand new parts, and the labor to do the correct rebuild....

Machine shop charges that just in machining. No parts included.

buy a used KA. it'll drop right in without having to wire up the sr. My first KA blew at 250k.

You are going to have more headaches trying to make that work. Only to find out it won't, cause you need all this other b.s to make it work.

i was thinking about swapping in NA sr20 b/c of the price difference then just after marketing a turbo on it. not sure about it after reading this though.
