Just want to know if any has any personal experience woth the two turbos. Are there any real differences in spool time. I am buying an Sr to put in the car for now. Planning on leaving it stock with the exception of the turbo.( Have a gt3076r laying around for sr that curently being built). Just wondering if i should keep this turbo or transfer it to my project sr. Also anybody know what a gt3076 can run on a stock sr with bolt ons and ras?

Send it in to Forced Performance for the upgrade. I think its around $600 and yes its worth it. Spool is better and the numbers are alot better.

Any idea how many pounds would be safe on a stock SR with the upgrade?

It depends what fuel your using. 91-93 oct, prolly 20-23psi.

On full tilt with E-85 ive seen them 32-35psi 530+whp

Anybody currently running a gtx3076r or even a gtx3071r on an sr? Cant seem to find dicussions involving them at all. Only thing i have seen them in are rb's

on a standard block/ head sr i doubt you would really want to push 20psi..

i would at least recommend a thicker hg and head studs

and obvious fuel needs...

gtx turbos got more blades (11 if I remember well), on compressor side, tolerance of manufacturing between blades and compressor housing is thicker, better quality compressor wheel,etc......

Thanks that definitely helped me out with my decision. Gtx3076r is an animal. One thing i noticed about that write up is it didnt specify if the gt3076r they were testing is ball bearing or not. My particular one isn't so making and upgrade to a dual ball bearing will make give the car alot more response. Btw it will be on my side project 2.2L sr20 not the stock d.d. one.

should check out my build got 2.2 and gt3076, might upgrade it to a gtx or a htp eventually and see what gains are had

Have you had the car dyno'ed? Is your 3076r ball bearing or not? Having a 2,2 where are you seeing full boost at?

I am running the gt3076r on my ka24det, and I tried pushing 20psi, and threw a rod through my block, I have alot of supporting mods for the power that the gt3076 can push, but 20 psi was about 550hp on my motor, and thats not good for a stock block. So now I am rebuilding my motor. I would recommend no more than 12psi. I drove mine daily at 10, then occasionally at 15. But with stock internals, I wouldnt push more than 12 at the most, or you'll end up with one of these.
