experience from repairing a stripped thread
ill make it short. i stripped my bolt from my sway bar mounting points. i want to ask for the people who had experience and successful repairing a stripped thread. what did you guys used to fix it? ive already search and found couple of answers like using a tap and die or the permatex thread repair kit then theres this helicoil insert can be used. using a tap and die under there is almost impossible because theres no space to turn it and it hits the brace underneath the car.
anyone can add some input? |

picture?
damaged bolt -> die damaged threaded hole -> tap which one do you have? I have stripped swaybar and tranny bracket holes before tap worked fine, just got to use a handle that doesn't get in the way same deal with using helicoils but a few more steps required and can be tricky if you're not careful you can really make a mess |

if its the bolt poking out of the chasses that's damaged, i say replace the tension rod bracket. The "bolt" is just a stud that comes out of the tension rod bracket. If its the weld nut that is in the chassis, tap and use a larger bolt.
