ka24de starting issues

Quote:
Hi...I have had my nissan for about 6 months. it is a 1991 240SX SE with automatic transmission, 4 cylinder, 2.4 liter engine. Sometimes it drives great with no problem, but sometimes for no reason it just dies. When it first started I would hit my gas pedal several times real fast to keep it from dying and try to keep the rpms up, but now it just dies. I have taken it in to two places for diagnostic check, but they both said that they could find nothing wrong. Sometimes it will start right back up and sometimes I have to just sit there before it starts. I changed the plugs, wires and distributer when it first started. I know it is either no spark or no fuel somewhere. When I try to start it I get the same symptom as I would with the coil wire disconnected. Perhaps the ignition module? It has always gotten lousy gas mileage. I drove it around town all morning and had no problems. A few weeks ago I was on the interstate and it died and wouldn't start for about 15 minutes. The week before I drove it on the interstate for 25 miles and no problems. It is intermittent and gives me a funny feeling in my stomach when it seems to cough. I hope you have some good advice for me.
i have a fully stock ka24de. i have the same problem as this guy posting above me. car dies on me randomly and i can start it again. but dies a bit later and this process repeats until the car dosent start anymore. cannot start it at all until a few hours later. like one day it fails to start and the next morning starts like nothing. any ideas?

check your fuel pump when it wont start to see if its turning on or not. i had the same problem and it was my fuel pump assembly and it would turn my pump on and off when ever it felt like it

I'm having that problem too where the pump randomly wants to work. Now it doesn't work at all. I changed the pump and still nothing. Checked the relays and fuses are all fine. No codes on ecu. What could it be? Whole assembly like you said?

Sorry for the thread-jack.

Could be leaky injector seals, check for that.
Could be your coil..
have you checked for codes?

Does sound like injector rings though. You should pull your plugs and see what they look like. Easiest would be to note any color differences between the four. That'll let you know which cylinder(s) have an issue if that is the case.

4.5k Sounds like a MAF issue. As for the starting it definitely sounds like a fuel issue. Maybe check fuel pump/fuel filter?
