Rb25 cas swapping

hey guys i have a question see if this isnt a bad idea. i have a bad cas easy diagnosis right? well my rb25 series 2 takes the rare black plastic hitachi cas, its hard to find one. so my idea is changing the exhaust camshaft to take the easier to find metal cas and using a NEW 300zx cas and changing out the connector. i have gone through 2 used ones with no help tired of trying to fix my car with used parts. sounds like a good idea to me what does everybody else think?
