good question, if you trust ricer shops to do installs... cuz I sure dont, alot of them really are just people without years of experience. being me, I tend to try to install everything I do to my car, and so far its been working out for me.

It loooks simple enough, I'm assuming you have a s13 and from experiaence I find it easy to get the gauge cluster out to work on, and that would be the most time consuming part to me. If you get stuck on wiring or finessing the stuff on there just ask here or search, theres some good info out there that can give you and idea.

installing gauges are pretty simple. i didnt kno what the hell i was doing and it came out pretty damn good. Dont waste ur money having someone else do it. Try urself and learn how to do it cuz itll be kinda fun. all u gotta do is drop the steering rack from underneath. Then unbolt ur cluster and carefully take it out. dont scratch anything! then unhook everything and pop the cover off wit a flathead screwdriver. those gauges should be overlays so just have the center go through the hole and set them ontop and put everything back together. Also for the wiring, i spliced the power source to one of the bulbs so whenever the lights r turned on, they go on to and i set the ground to the frame. u should be fine. good luck.
(hope that helps)

I've done them on a few cars, and the above post sums up the install well. It's a piece of cake....

it took me like 45 minutes the first time I put them in. its a hell of a lot easier if you pull the steering wheel (which is really easy and takes like 2 minutes).

The trustworthy shops around here won't even dick with that stuff. My bro tried installing some on his 3rd gen Lude, and the speedometer didn't work. He needed a new gauge cluster anyway, and the guy he was getting it from said he could install them. Well he f00ked it up too. I'd save the $40 and put it towards something more worthwhile!

On my old '97 Prelude I installed some white-faced indiglos and it was a piece of cake.. even took out the circle bezels around the gauges and painted 'em silver for that nice BMW look...

When you're sliding the gauges over your original ones try to bend the new gauges a bit to make it easier to get them over the needles.

its easy, but 2 pairs of ebay lights have cut out on me...wtf? the soldiering between the control and the ground/power wires are shitty so they fail if u accidentally tap the control... guage control.

they reason that everyone has problems is because the glow gauges lay over the stock ones, adding thickness under the needles. Then the needles bind and stick. If that happens, take the cluster out and lay sandpaper under the needles and take a bit off the back of them so they don't bind. Its easy and it cures 90% of the problems, even with my friends hondas. I think I am the first person to realize this, at least among my circle of friends, and a lot of people online didn't realize why the gauges were cause their problems either.
but thats a quick solution to a common problem.

Yeah, what I did to keep the glow gauges from coming up on my Prelude too much was tape 'em down with double-sided tape to hold them to the OEM gauge faces. That worked fine for me if you don't feel like sanding your needles.

in my case adding double sticking tape would have actually ADDED to the thickness under the gauges, so wouldn't have been much of a help. I dont think.

That's true.. on some gauges it might add more to use double-sided tape. If that's the case you could just try to tape down the edges with masking, scotch or packing tape so that you're not adding anything underneath the gauges. It might look cheezy though if you can see the tape though.. so... hmm.. I dunno.
