There's no real difference between the new tranny and trannys from the 95-96, etc...
All the KA24DE's use the same tranny. Go to a local junk yard, I'm sure they'll have trannys from the 95-96, 97-98, and a $hit load of 1st gens...240's aren't strangerz to da yards... One here in Chicago is charging only $125.00... |

I killed my S14 tranny too. Doing a little research I found that the part numbers for the ACT clutch kits are the same for all the years, EXCEPT for the release bearing. 91-94 has a different part # for the release bearing only. So I would say try and find an S14 tranny, or a KA24E tranny.
My brother has the tranny left over from his SR swap and he had an 89 s13. I think it should fit my S14, and I am even going to order the S14 clutch kit just in case something doesn't fit and I won't be stuck with a clutch for a 24e. Good luck. |

Well I went ahead and tried the SOHC tranny and it works fine. There is one sensor at the top of the bell housing that doesn't work, but everything is running fine. As far as I can tell anyway. I am sure that sensor is important, but this transmission is a quick and temporary fix untill I get an SR, wich is looking to be pretty soon. Good luck.
