s14 can you put seafoam and carb cleaner here to clean iacv?

hi guys

I was wondering if it is safe to put seafoam and carb cleaner thru this port to the IACV and would it be safe? i read the bottle ... carb cleaner is extremely flammable and wasn't sure so i felt it was best to ask before i set my whole world on fire.

ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting

the thing that says "air in" is where i am wondering if it is ok to spray carb cleaner down, and would it "catch on fire" if i did.

Was wondering if any of you men did this.

reason for me wanting to do this is to clean the IACV without taking it apart, im hoping that this breaks up the gunk and whatever there is to help with my cars idle.

Taking the IACV off is very easy. Just need a regular open / closed 10mm wrench and a 10mm socket / socket wrench. 4 Bolts, a couple clips, and a hose. BAM. Then you can clean it for real. Soak it and scrub it.

Make sure you make yourself a gasket for it, otherwise you'll have a mild vac leak.

Make no mistake it is a bitch to get the iacv off. Me personally would take the whole intake manifold off so as to make sure I don't have any other problems back in there, then remove and clean the iacv. I was apprehensive the first time but it's not so bad, just need some patience.

^I'm not saying it can't be done. I would just take it off if he never has, because he's obviously using seafoam to work out some gremlins. IMO it's worth it to check out what else is going on back in there, probably something. You can't honestly tell me you don't agree with the statement that it's a bitch to get it out of there?

I will agree with you it is a bitch big time bitch.. i'd be more inclined to take it off and not give a shit if this was my 2nd car but its my daily... so the idea of walking 2 miles to the autozone store to get crap doesn't sound to enticing

Taking off the manifold the first time for me took a few hours. Having to install it, then remove it again because I had to solve another issue made me be able to remove and re install the manifold in less than an hour. On a day off, I would recommend starting early and taking it off, and seriously looking everything through. Especially that coolant line that goes from behind the Thermostat housing, up to the manifold. Might as well replace it, it is a common problem on KA's. Be careful with the studs, keep in mind you might have to replace them. It would also help to either have a buddy with a car, or borrow someone's car in case of emergency runs to the parts store. I was going to remove my EGR but needed the car running asap, and couldn't wait for a block off plate to ship.

IACV is not that bad to take off, you may not have the right tools. the EGR was a PITA, took me 3-4hours to figure that shit out but glad i got it off and installed the block off plate so no more messing with EGR.
