Fuel pump/ Fan relay

My fuel pump went out randomly one day accelerating on the highway. Below are pics of what I think is the relay to either the fan or the fuel pump. I was at the bank with my dual front fans on that I manually turn on with a toggle switch for about 10mins and then pulled out on the highway and my fuel pump just stopped. Ordered a new one, when I pulled it out, I tested it and it was good. I bypassed this random relay and it worked fine, It primed when I turned the car on, stopped, and when I started the car it ran fine. The fans also turned on and off fine. Can anyone tell me what this relay was for, or what setup the previous owner was trying to go for? There is relays in the front of the car for the fans so I dont what this is for...

Side note: There was also 2 ground wires running all the way from the fans and a relay in the front directly to the battery (which is in the back). This I did not understand either when you could just ground them to the chassis in the front.

The red wire went drictly to the battery, the pin closes went directly to the ground on the battery, the pin with the green and blue connected (blue came from the front fans, green from the car to relay). The other green went from relay to pump.
