s13 guage cluster, turnsignal, reverse lights, and fuel pump issue please help!!!!

I've recently purchased an s13 and dropped a red top into it and when I went to start it for the first time I didn't hear the fuel pump kick on. We checked and replaced the relay and fuse and still nothing. I googled the problem and a guy had a pic up of him jumping the relay like just putting a wire in it so I tried it and it worked. How can I fix it so its not rigged up? The next problem I have is my turn signals and cluster don't work at all. When i start the car the clock or trip mileage thing at the bottom lights up but no numbers its just a solid light? I have no tach or anything and my fuel gauge is reading full but my car only has like a gallon in it? Oh and my reverse lights don't work? any help would be appreciated and some info about the car that concerns me is it was a single jingle and my buddy says he thinks its because there is no clip for the brown plug on the sr harness by the ecu that goes behind the dash?
