HELP!!! CUSCO Drift Button Install...not so easy
Wassup everybody, I just got my CUSCO Drift Button in the mail today. So I immediately open it up, check it out and go out to my car to install it. I had read (either on this forum or another) that several people simply slide the knob over the stock hand brake release button. Well....it went about half way down and wouldnt go down any farther, and it was acting like it should. Meaning that i wasnt able to have the button stay in and freely use the handbrake and push it back out when I wanted to use the hand brake for parking. So as I am wrestling the knob off of my handbrake the whole assembly decides to give way before the drift knob does. So I had a perfect, working handbrake turn into a handbrake with a button, spring and rod exposed on it. So I decide to do what every guy does and take it apart, but not before I go onto JSpec.com and check out their instructions. I took off the center console and the boot around the brake. I decide to go ahead and try following Jspecs instructions at this point....which rendered totally useless because I had somehow fuqd up the handbrake assembly. So as my car sits right now, I have to drift button on and a handbrake that has the release button sticking out all the way and no locking feature.
What I think happened is that I somehow pulled the spring out that locks the lever onto the gear when you pull it up. Has anybody had this problem, or would anyone know how to fix it? I would like to get my Drift Knob installed, but not before I fix my handbrake. Can anybody help me out with this? Also, what are some other peoples impressions of their drift knob?
Thanks guys
Joe
