S14 auto to manual conversion

Hey guys. I'm not asking how to do the conversion, but I have a question about the tranny sensors. Some genius decided to rip all the connectors off the sensors for the 5 speed I recently bought. My questions are how do I test the sensors using a voltmeter and do other nissan trannys share the same sensors? The reason I ask the second question is the I can find lots of nissans and infinitis at the junkyards and sensors would be almost nothing if I need mine replaced. I'm assuming nissan would have used the same sensors acrosse other trannys to save money, but I don't really have anywhere to start looking. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
