5K fuel cutoff on KA??

I was at DD17 over the weekend and doing 3rd gear drifts, then downshifting into 2nd then the stupid fuel cuts off at 5K
for some strange reason i cant rev past 5K rpms on my 95 KA24DE...

I'm not sure what it can be, but the Fuel filter is a brand new Z32 one, Fuel pump looks fine (not sure though), new spark plugs/wires, clean Maf/sensor, etc....

would unplugging the 5th gear speed sensor correct this?

Check for a bad 5th gear switch.

The speed limiter is set for 5000rpm in 5th, so if you have a bad switch, the ECU thinks you're in 5th all the time, and you cannot rev over 5k.

orion's got it.
the only 5k rpm cutoff is for 5th gear (so you can't go over 110mph).
best thing to do is disconnect the switch entirely.

I just completed the 5 speed swap. Only sensor hooked up is my speed sensor. The other 4 are open. Just started my car this morning to drive home and i cannot rev past 5200 in any gear. Its acting like it thinks im in 5th at all times. the sensor isn't hooked up so WTF?

If I am not mistaken, it is the rearmost sensor on the tranny, make that one go away and you cure the problem
