How did you guys gut your catalytic converter ??

Hey whats up, im trying to gut my cat, but its turning to be pretty hard haah That stuff on the inside is hella hard!!! How do you guys do it? First i tryed stabing it with a screw driver, and that sorta works but would like take me a whole day to do, then i tryed a 2.5inch pipe, and that still did not do it what did you guys do to gut your cats?

Why? For that extra .3hp and increased emissions?

Most didn't. The increase in emissions, rotten egg smell, stupid sound that will come out of your exhaust, ect vs. the miserable ammount of power you'd make isn't worth it. Period.

I actually did it a while back with a heavy tire iron. There is no noticeable power gain. Noise increase was a whisper in a storm compared to my N1. But I can definitely smell more nasties coming out back there...definitely not worth it...I regret doing it.

reason why im doing this is because im running a ka24e turbo, Im already running a 3 inch test pipe rite now, but i do not want to get busted for that, so I plan to run a gutted cat. I bet my car is not worse than any of those old muscle cars when it comes to polution

There is a company called Catco that makes a 3" catalytic converter. Phase2 and heavythrottle probably sell them.

Boo hoo. I spent all my money on my KAT and now I can't afford a high flow cat so I'm just going to gut this stock one because I sure don't want to get busted.

I hope your car backfires in front of a cop and a nice lick of flame singes his eyebrows so he knows you are running a straight pipe.

I'm not sorry to be so harsh, polluting just because you are too lazy or too cheap really sucks.

Its not the fact that im lazy or cheap, I already have a 3 inch High flow cat that I use for smog, Its just I feel it will be a waste of money to buy a high flow cat, and blow it up within a month, my car pretty much shoots out flames, and im running very ritch (8:1 fmu) So im pretty shure a high flow cat will start to get that rotten egg smell pretty fast

Why are you worried about a cop looking underneath your car an illegal test pipe when he could just look under your hood and find a whole load of illegal goodies to ticket you for? If you're going to play, you got to be prepared to pay...

Cant really tune an fmu, I can lower the disks which I may try maby 6:1 or 7:1, IM saving for safc, and ca or rx7 injectors so soon it shall be tuned correctly and thats when i can run my cat, but for now i shall rum the gutted cat haha, (fmu may be hella ritch, but they are safer than people think, just you cant tune)
