My car came with it and no upper airbox with the lower airbox intact. Occasionally when coming to a stop my car would bog down/try to die on me, usually after I had cleaned my air filter. Sometimes repositioning it would help. There was no bracket included with it so it sat on top of a foam block for the longest of times. So one day while servicing my car I started it without the air filter on (it was drying) to check for oil leaks (just changed the oil). I noticed that the engine wouldn't hold at idle for shit and it kinda puzzled me. I turned it off installed the filter and started again and had the same problem. So, I left it on and walked to the front and lifted the intake up a little out of the engine bay and it idled like a rock, stuck it back where is was and it started like crap again. The turbulence caused by the clutch fan was interfering with the intake so now I have a plate/wall built around it. Idles great now and when the car was warm before (fan spinning) in lower gears it would surge in the lower rpms. Now it's gone.

Cliff notes:
- Stillen Pop Charger w/K&N filter
- Bad Idle/Driveability
- Build a wall around the filter element seperating the filter from the airflow from the radiator clutch fan

Very good. I had the same problem and did pretty much the same thing.

You could have also ordered the bracket for like $25 from Stillen.

Worked fine on my old S14 for 2 years.

Dunno if it makes a difference but mine is a s13.
