s13 Sr20det black top type x into s14

hey guys, so i recently bought a sr20det black top type x. The previous owner had installed and running in his 96 nissan s14. I bought the swap for my 89 hatch. My question is, will I have to modify the harness to make it work? If so, what do I have to do?

Thanks!!

Save yourself the headache and buy a new harness from wiring specialties.

well hold on. Wiring specialties has their own issues, being that the harnesses are untested, I have diagnosed a problem back to their harness on a vehicle. One of the pins was not making contact inside the ECU plug, I had to shove bits of wire into the ECU plug to get it to make a connection with the coil. Very frustrating and time consuming problem for a brand new harness, finally figured out the misfire only occurred when we held the ECU sideways a certain way, twisting the wire inside the plug to make connection.

So having dealt with that issue, combined with the fact that S13 240sx cars are the easiest/simplest to wire the S13 sr20det engine to, I would get an OEM sr20det harness and wire it to your car yourself. Use heat shrink/soldier and it only takes 2~ hours MAX thats going very slow. There are only 2places that need wiring and its mostly color matching (MOSTLY) 1. by the battery tray and 2. by the ECU. You can find one of the 17 guides on the internet to show you which wires.
